Mokichi Okada's History
- 1882
- Mokichi Okada is born in Asakusa, Tokyo.
- 1887
- Enrols on the Introductory Course at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now renamed The Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music). After six months, he leaves school due to a severe eye disease followed by two bouts of pleurisy and the pulmonary tuberculosis. Although declared incurable, he is miraculously healed by a strict vegetarian diet.
- 1907
- Opens “Okada Shoten”, his accessories wholesale business in Kyobashi, Tokyo.
Marries.
Experiences various severe illnesses, this time for around ten years. - 1915
- Invents the Asahi Diamonds technique, and takes out patents in ten countries, including Japan.
- 1919
- His wife passes away.
Marries again. - 1920
- His business is badly hit by the worldwide economic panic.
Becomes a believer in Omoto Kyo( new Japanese religion) - 1923
- The Great Kanto earthquake strikes his business again.
- 1924
- Devotes himself to spiritual research. Various miracles occur around him.
- 1926
- Receives revelation from God, and realizes his great mission of salvation for mankind
- 1928
- Leaves his business to his partner, and devotes himself to religious life (salvation)
- 1931
- Becomes aware of the transition from Night to Day in the spiritual realm, on the peak of Mount Nokogiri, in Chiba Prefecture
- 1935
- Opens a religious organization, the Japan Kannnon Society (now known as Sekai-Kyusei-Kyo)
- 1936
- Suffers unjust and severe pressure by police on three occasions
- 1938
- Begins experimenting with Nature Farming
- 1944
- Begins construction of Shinsen-kyo in Hakone
- 1945
- Commences religious activities with freedom of thoughts realized from the end of World Warâ…¡
Begins construction of Zuiun-kyo in Atami - 1950
- Establishes the way of Johrei
- 1951
- Completes construction of the Hakone Museum of Art.
Obtains the land for Heian-kyo in Kyoto. - 1954
- Obtains “the Red and White Plum Blossoms”, a National Treausure and a pair of
twin-paneled screens by Korin Ogata. - 1955
- Obtains the Tea-storage jar, a National Treasure, made by Ninsei Nonomura.
Passes Away.
